1. What This Website Is

This is an independent, private reference site, not a government records office. It does not keep official files, retrieve records on a reader's behalf, conduct an official background check, or submit forms for anyone.

Its function is to identify relevant Culpeper County custodians and research channels. Those sources include the sheriff, Virginia courts, the Virginia Department of State Police Criminal Justice Information Services Division through CARE and CCRE, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Links may also lead to outside tools that can assist a lawful search.

2. Rules for Using This Site

As a condition of access, you agree not to:

• Use automated agents, bots, or scrapers against the site's pages
• Attempt to enter systems or areas for which you lack permission
• Stalk, intimidate, harass, or threaten another person with information obtained here
• Rely on site content for a hiring, housing, credit, lending, or insurance decision
• Disrupt performance or interfere with another visitor's access
• Violate any applicable local, Virginia, or federal law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use material from this website or a linked service to stalk, intimidate, threaten, harass, or discriminate against anyone. That restriction is especially important for the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Virginia Code § 9.1-917 makes unauthorized registry use with intent to harass or intimidate a crime. Registry information supports lawful public-safety awareness. It does not authorize vigilantism, employment blacklisting, housing discrimination, or confrontation.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Under the FCRA, this website is not a consumer reporting agency. It produces no credit report, consumer report, or official background check. Neither the site nor an advertising partner supplies a service intended to evaluate a job applicant, rental application, insurance rate, or creditworthiness. You therefore agree that site or linked-tool data will not be used to:

• Set insurance terms or evaluate a person's creditworthiness
• Assess a tenant, renter, or other housing applicant
• Make a decision about hiring or termination
• Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or public benefit
• Carry out any other activity governed by the FCRA

When an authorized purpose requires a qualifying check, obtain the proper product directly from the Virginia Department of State Police CARE/CCRE process or from a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content supplies general information, not legal advice. Although it describes criminal-record access in Culpeper County, it cannot determine how a warrant, charge, conviction, expungement, or Virginia sealing rule affects a particular person. Seek advice from a lawyer licensed in Virginia for that analysis.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are supplied "as is." No warranty promises that:

• A partner search result will be complete or correct
• Every page is free from errors, defects, or security vulnerabilities
• Information will always be current, complete, or accurate
• Access will remain uninterrupted or continuously available

Criminal records change when charges are filed, amended, dismissed, expunged, or sealed. Virginia's sealing framework can also restrict records previously open to ordinary public inspection. Omissions and delays are unavoidable. Only the court, sheriff, police department, VSP, or other originating custodian can issue an official statement about its records.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to sheriff resources, Virginia court portals, state agencies, legal-aid providers, or outside search services. Following one transfers you to a service outside this site's control. Its availability, content, charges, privacy practices, and data handling are the third party's responsibility. Read that provider's own terms before proceeding.

8. Intellectual Property

Culpeper County Criminal History or its content partners own the site's text, code, graphics, and logos. Without prior written authorization, you may not reproduce, alter, distribute, or create derivative work from that material.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim liability for damages arising from site use. This limit includes harm tied to reliance on information obtained here or through a linked provider.

10. Indemnification

You agree to hold us harmless against a claim, demand, or legal proceeding caused by your use of the site or violation of these terms. That obligation includes related costs and reasonable legal fees.

11. Governing Law

Virginia law governs these terms. A dispute related to use of the site must be brought in a court located in Virginia. Record access itself remains subject to applicable rules, including the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, Va. Code § 2.2-3700 et seq., and CCRE dissemination limits in Va. Code § 19.2-389.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these conditions at any time. A revision becomes effective when the updated terms are posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

We reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or end your access at any time, for any reason, and without prior notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, every remaining provision continues in force. The affected language will be modified only to the minimum extent needed for enforceability.
