About Culpeper County Criminal History

Culpeper County records are divided among two court clerks, the Sheriff's Office, Town Police, Virginia State Police, the Department of Corrections, and the state registry. This private reference site organizes those official routes so a reader can identify the right custodian, understand what its record means, and find the published request method. It is not part of Culpeper County or the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Why We Built This Site

Culpeper's historic courthouse places General District and Circuit Court at one address, yet each clerk holds a different class of criminal file. Police reports remain with the agency that made them. Local custody, state supervision, and the CCRE history product also use separate systems. The site brings together official links, verified contacts, fees, search controls, and access limits so those divisions are clear.

What You Will Find Here

The material focuses on practical access through government and court sources.

  • Case access: how Culpeper General District and Circuit Court records are searched and read
  • Official checks: how the Virginia State Police SP-167 name-based process differs from authorized fingerprint checks
  • Local contacts: the Sheriff's Office, Culpeper Police Department, and court clerks that hold the original records
  • Record relief: the distinction between Virginia expungement and the sealing system effective in 2026

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site with no connection to a Virginia court, police agency, sheriff, or state department. Its limits are firm:

  • It cannot retrieve or certify a criminal record for any person
  • It cannot submit a records request, correction, expungement, or sealing petition
  • It cannot provide a legal opinion about a warrant, charge, or outcome
  • It cannot change a court, police, CCRE, custody, or registry entry
  • It cannot promise that an office's fee, hours, or processing time has not changed

Only the court or agency that maintains a Culpeper record can issue an official copy or correct its source data.

Search Partners

Some search boxes are supplied by outside providers. Those providers control their products, results, subscriptions, and prices. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may produce referral revenue that supports site operation. Their output is not an official Culpeper County record and should be checked against the office that holds the original.
